Canon LTM Canon 50mm F2.8 - I'm Impressed

Canon M39 M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
I sold my Canon 50/2.8 for something like $125-$150 at the time.
Do I have any regrets?
Not anymore, but I had some.

I have to say (at the risk of annoying someone here) that I am not convinced that the black 50/1.8, with which I have a fair amount of experience, is either sharper or more contrasty than the 50/2.8, at least between F5.6 and F11. Of course it has the speed edge advantage and being able to shoot at F1.8 can certainly make or break a shot.

Time for a lens test, Raid! :)

Roland, name a 50mm lens of that vintage that won't give a satisfactory image at f5.6.

Frank,

I have already done a lens test on such a lens in 2006. Go to posting 107 to see some results. :D

I now have accumulated a lot of 50mm lens test images.

They are fun to return to.

I just found a very clean Canon 50mm f/2.8 zebra lens and did a quick test. I have noticed that the Canon S lenses perform better about f/5.6 or f/8.0. This is not surprising. I was very pleased with the color and sharpness of this 1950's lens.

Not all old RFF threads are still existing.
@raid, I believe the threads are still there, but the links changed (and broke) when RFF migrated to the new XenForo platform. I think this was the thread you originally linked upthread?

Thank you! I am happy to find my old thread here.
