My Instax adventures

A beauty! You’ve captured everything so well there and it seems the SQ6 is just perfect for the colors, composition, and the Impressionist-like quality of the background.

A wonderfully preserved moment!
Thanks Pál!

Picture #356 from the Instax SQ6. Summer at Dee Why beach, Sydney, January 2023.
I was concentrating too much on the colour and not enough on the horizon.

Speaking just for myself, the slight tilt of the horizon is of no consequence whatsoever.

The photo is good!

Had you not mentioned the horizon, I don’t think I’d’ve ever given it a moment’s thought other than admiring the water and sky. I don’t think I’m alone in regard to this.

Hey, thanks. I'm having fun with these cameras :D

Picture #411 with the Instax SQ6. Autumn light at Dee Why beach, Sydney, March 2023.

I was at a cafe facing the beach when this light happened. Put down the coffee and ran across the level crossing to the beach to grab this picture before the light changed. I've lightened the shadows a bit to give more detail of the sand. The artifact near the centre is Newtons Rings from the print lying on the V700 scanner glass.

I was wanting to capture a dazzling hole in the cloud cover, but my exposure was too much (the SQ6 has auto exposure with manual exposure compensation of +/- 2/3 stop. I used auto). What I got reminded me a bit of Rothko's division of the picture into colour fields. I lifted the shadows a bit in Lightroom to give more detail on the sand.

It's Roidweek 2023! I've been trawling my archives to find some prints to upload..

Picture #392 with the Instax Mini 9. Stormy seas with an orange filter, July (winter) 2020 on the Sydney coast. Without filtration this would have been overexposed, with the waves a white mushy blob. 1/60 f/32 ISO800 (minimum exposure).

Picture #088 with the Instax Wide 300. Orange filter. Sunset over Dee Why coastal lagoon, July (winter) 2020. Without filtration the highlights would not have been recorded.

I realise I've overlooked a batch of scanned prints from 2021.

Photo #315 with the Instax SQ6. Surfers at Dee Why beach, Sydney, September 2021. DY is easy to identify due to the colour of the sand.
